From day one, Somerville Family Dental Care has been actively involved with the idea of minimising the impact that dentistry has on our planet, and on the side effects that some treatments or materials may have on our bodies.
How we reduce our environmental impact…
We use modern digital x-ray equipment that produces significantly less radiation than outdated analogue machines. They also yield much better visual results with better diagnostic detail and no waste products or chemicals.
We have invested in state-of-the-art digital scanning technology that allows us to map your mouth in 3D and move to a digital workflow. This means less transporting of models to and from our labs around the country.
We produce much less chemical contamination by sourcing products from local suppliers that are eco-friendly, including high quality biodegradable barriers and eco-friendly disinfectants.
We create natural looking restorations using materials that produce less heavy metal waste, and all our fillings are mercury free.
We use fewer disposable items than other practices in order to reduce our environmental footprint.
As new techniques and equipment become available, we will continue to revise our practices to ensure we are doing our part for a sustainable future.
Payment options
We know that dentistry can be expensive, but we are called Somerville Family Dental Care for a reason: we understand that family is important, and that finances can be limited.
Health funds
Our practice has the ability to claim directly from your private health fund leaving only the gap payment to be made by you. We kindly expect payment on the day of treatment.
Government assistance
We are regularly informed of various government incentives , such as the $1,000 free Child Dental Benefits Schedule, and we are more than happy to recommend these if they suit your circumstances.

We believe in being as transparent as we can and we want to take the mystery out of our profession. If you’ve had a consultation with us and we’ve mentioned a product or service, you’ll probably be able to find more information about it here.
